Learn about Muskegon's heritage at the elegant Queen Anne-style homes at the Hackley-Hume Historic Site and the Muskegon County Museum, currently featuring the "Coming to the Lakes" exhibit. Enjoy renowned works of art at the Muskegon Museum of Art, which includes pieces from its permanent collection as well as special exhibits. Take in a hit musical or other special event at the ornate Frauenthal Center, home to the West Shore Symphony Orchestra.
Muskegon's extensive waterfront is home to several historic vessels that are open to visitors. Step aboard the World War II submarine USS SILVERSIDES and the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter McLANE, which are part of the Great Lakes Naval Memorial and Maritime Museum, located at the south side of Muskegon Channel. Visit the LST 393, a veteran of WWII that is being restored to her original appearance after having served Muskegon as the auto ferry HIGHWAY 16. Learn about the Great Lakes passenger steamers aboard the historic passenger/car ferry, the S.S. MILWAUKEE CLIPPER. Enjoy a relaxing lunch or dinner cruise on Muskegon Lake and Lake Michigan aboard the PORT CITY PRINCESS.
Fun and excitement await you in Muskegon. Take a chance on the thrilling Shivering Timbers wooden roller coaster and a number of other rides at Michigan's Adventure Amusement Park and Wild Water Adventure. Swim, sunbathe, or stroll the golden sands at Muskegon's beaches at Pere Marquette Park or Muskegon State Park, which boast some of the finest stretches of shoreline in the state.
The Getty 4 drive-in theater is one of the few drive-ins left in Michigan. Open April through September, it’s a great way to take in a popular movie on a warm evening. Classic movies are also shown on the deck of the LST-393 on Friday evenings during the summer.
We're also a great stop if you are arriving or departing on the cross lake ferry!
